26.04.1994The so-called Berlin/Bonn Act determines to strengthen Bonn as center of science and research.
11.07.1995caesar, center of advanced european studies and research, is founded by the Federal Republic of Germany and the federal state North Rhine-Westphalia.
31.08.1998The foundation board appoints Prof. Dr. Karl-Heinz Hoffmann as scientific-technical member of the board of directors and founding director of caesar.
11.01.1999Prof. Dr. Karl-Heinz Hoffmann takes up employment in the interim accommodation of caesar; in the city center of Bonn. First scientific working groups are being established.
01.02.1999Dr. Hartwig Bechte takes up his work as administrative director of the caesar board.
01.04.2003caesar staff moves into the new research building in Bonn-Plittersdorf.
26.05.2004The Scientific Council submits a written comment regarding the center of european studies and research.
2006The administrative director of the board, Dr. Hartwig Bechte, manages alone research center and foundation affairs.
02.06.2006The foundation board resolves to focus caesar's scientific work on neurosciences and decides upon the association of caesar with the Max Planck Society maintaining tasks and legal structure as legally independent foundation.
17.11.2006The foundation board decides to reform the statute of the caesar foundation.
2007The scientific management of the research center is taken over temporarily by the scientific members of the board Prof. Dr. Herbert Waldmann, MPI of Molecular Physiology and Prof. Dr. Erwin Neher, MPI for Biophysical Chemistry.
16.07.2007The foundation board appoints Prof. Dr. U. B. Kaupp as scientific director.
01.01.2008Prof. Dr. U. B. Kaupp takes up his work as scientific director at caesar. The first department "Molecular Sensory Systems" is being established and starts its scientific work.
01.11.2009Gertrud Bilski takes up her work as administrative director of the caesar board.
2009During the construction phase of DZNE's (German Center for Neurodegenerative Diseases) new bulding, caesar makes available spaces and laboratories for scientists at DZNE and begins scientific cooperations in various fields.
