Our animals

Meet our animals
At MPINB, we aim to understand how the brain controls animal behavior. How is it possible for animals to perform very successfully in their different habitats? How do animals perceive their world? What is happening in their brains when they make decisions?

Our approaches span from nano-scale imaging of the brain’s synaptic connectivity to large-scale functional imaging at cellular resolution in behaving animals, to the detailed quantification of animal behavior. We study a wide range of organisms, including single-cell organisms, worms, flies, fish, frogs, birds, and mammals.

Meet our animals and get to know more about their fascinating behaviors and our research.
